Application Schedule for 2017 Enrollment

(The application period for 2017 enrollment has already been CLOSED.For September 2018 PEAK enrollment, please refer to the new application guidelines which are going to be announced on our website early July and confirm the update of the requirements.)

1. Application Period

October 28 (Fri.), 2016, to November 30 (Wed.), 2016

Applicants must choose one of the two programs (Japan in East Asia or Environmental Sciences) when applying. They will be evaluated according to the program they choose.
2. First Screening

December 6 (Tue.), 2016, to, January 20 (Fri.), 2017

Applicants are initially assessed on their educational achievements and the content of their application essays.  Reviewers also take into consideration the evaluation forms and other materials submitted by the applicant.
3. Invitation for an Interview

January 20 (Fri.), 2017, to January 27 (Fri.), 2017

Applicants receive the result of the first screening. Those selected are invited to attend an interview.
4. Second Screening

February 4 (Sat.), 2017, to March 31 (Fri.), 2017

During the interview, the applicant may also be asked to provide written answers to questions given by the interviewers.
5. Acceptance

April 5 (Wed.), 2017

Places for the programs at the University of Tokyo are offered to successful applicants. Merit-based scholarships are offered to those who qualify.
6. Enrollment Decision

May 11 (Thu.), 2017

Deadline for the return of your Letter of Intent. Administrative procedures for preparation to study in Japan begin.

Instructions about enrollment procedures are sent to those who have accepted a place at the University of Tokyo.
8. Payment of Admission Fee

Late May

Students who have been given an unconditional offer are asked to pay the admission fee.

Late August

Students who have been given a conditional offer are asked to pay the admission fee.
9. Orientation Information

Late July

Instructions about orientation and enrollment registration in Japan are sent.
10. Enrollment

September 1 (Thu.), 2017

The University of Tokyo (PEAK) academic year commences.
